20K Films is now offering a weeklong Teacher Training Course designed specifically for Junior High and High School Teachers who are interested in adding video production and editing courses to their curriculum. This course would also be highly beneficial to any instructor at the Junior High or High School level who already teaches video production and editing courses and wants to learn the newest digital video technologies and editing software as well as learn about and try out new video production and editing projects designed specifically for Junior High and High School student learning levels.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn basic cameras functions and techniques using consumer level HD video cameras. (Cameras used in course will be the Canon Avixia.)
  • Recognize various shot compositions commonly used in motion picture
  • Identify general microphone types appropriate for specific audio sources
  • Perform basic picture and audio editing operations on a basic non-linear editing system (This course will introduce and teach the following video editing software: Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Express 4, and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5)
  • Implement basic concepts and theories of digital films and audio
  • Shoot and Edit several video production projects from concept to completion
  • Identify basic principles and methods for editing different forms of media
  • Recognize specific types of shots, cuts, effects, transitions, and titles used in editing
  • Apply editing techniques to raw material using a non-linear editing system
  • Create finished pieces which incorporate learned theory and techniques
  • Evaluate work using aesthetic and technical criteria pertinent to specific forms

This course will meet from Monday to Friday from 10am-6pm in Chicago. The following items are included in the course fees: small catered breakfast (coffee, bagels, and fruit) and full catered lunch every day, course binder filled with sample curriculum guides that teachers can adjust for their school’s curriculum, video production and editing class handouts for students, ideas and project plans for teaching video production and editing in their classrooms, and a fully loaded resource list designed to help them find and access information quickly that will help them succeed in introducing a digital video production and editing curriculum to their Junior High or High School.
